Wonderful World of Cody #12 Classic Nickolodeon and #12.5 Classic Sitcoms

First off, I apologize, as I missed a week due to a hellish work schedule that I do not with on anyone. I'd also like to plug my FANTASY BASEBALL, but you can read the post below this for that information.

Several cool things on my end since last I updated. First I worked all day on Saturday to finish an Alpha version of Pioneers, which Lindsay, Dave and I have played three times, winning narrowly once, and losing horribly the other two times. I'm glad we played as a lot of aspects need to be tweaked, while others need complete overhaul. We also tried FDM's game Warlords last weekend. It was pretty fun, once you got the hang of it. Today for Easter, Karen made the most beautiful meal I've seen homecooked. It was wonderful, a friggin' huge fruit tray (with at least eight or so fruits), a cheese and cracker tray (with three cheeses and two crackers), a coffee cake, brownies, three types of muffins, pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon, and even banana bread, all of which she made herself. Anyone who hires Karen to do something will be very, very pleasantly surprised. I have had zero chance at dancing for well over a week now. Which is very sad, but I'm on SPRING BREAK this week! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Long live the art of sleeping in! Dave and I also had a guys night, after my plans to hang with the Walmart gang fell through. It was great! The Guy Game for PS2 was a riot (and had boobies), while the movies Treasure Hunt (few boobies), Star Struck (a few more boobies) and Buried Alive (dead people boobies) thoroughly SUCKED ASS. Never rent them...unless you wanna rent shitty movies like we did! :)

FANTASY BASEBALL!

Hey, just wanted to tell everyone that I will be doing a Wonderful World of Cody update later tonight around 11pm...it will be a special ten question mega-round since I missed last weeks.

In addition, I'm looking for anyone interested in Fantasy Baseball. I've decided to set up a league, even though I never have a computer, and will be starting it shortly. (We only have a week till the season starts)

If you are interested, the League Name is "Summertime League"
the password is "lemonade"
the league ID is "264824"

Feel free to join...as of right now we are doing an autopick, but Karen is trying to get it to a live draft, which would be more fun, but a lot harder to coordinate.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF CODY #11 "Bill and Ted would be proud..."

Before we get started, I'd like to say welcome back to most of you from break. Very proud that many of you have chosen to continue this thing into its 11th week. Very proud indeed. I'm currently listening to FDM's show on Radio X.

Well, big news this week has got to be that I'm going FULL TIME at Walmart now. More money I guess, and more benefits, even less time for friends and freedom. Oh well, such is life.

Greg, the roommate thing intrigues me, my end will be very confusing. I'll be doing my best to get out of here to get a teaching job, if I don't and end up here, Lindsay might quit her job to live with me, and if none of that happens, I might still be in need of a place to live. I love this place, but regardless I'm not staying here. If Lindsay moves in with me, I'm getting a one room place.

The other big news was that my three weeks of hard work that was "Pioneers!" was either A)stolen or B)lost. Long story short, the game got misplace at Walmart and when I returned two days later it was gone. Pretty rough spending a lot of hours on a project only to have it gone. I've worked twice as hard at getting it back and have about 80% of it I would say. The rest is gone, from memory and from paper, thus never to seen again. The game is shaping up to have some potential, but could also be very confusing.

The dance dance off with Dan has become increasingly frustrating, a combination of notes I cannot get coupled with pads fucking up, has made me a little peaved. But still, I'm getting some good exercise.

I had the chance to rewatch the Airband Competition, and turns out I didn't really suck at all! I was decent! Yay!

Last night I surprised Lindsay by stopping and giving her some flowers and other "goodies" for our 500 day anniversary. She's really great!

Tomorrow I have a dinner date with Katie...Border Grill here I come!

Any suggestions for upcoming quizzes? I know I'll have a baseball one for opening week. Let me know what else...I'll put a little spin on them...

Last Week's Quiz-
1 point- What are the indigenous people of Australia called? Aborigines
2 points- What city of Australia holds the famed Opera House? Sydney
3 points- What is the name of the traditional rite of passage involving a boy traveling through the outback in search of spiritual awakening? Walkabout
4 points- What does "Australia" mean? Land of the South or Southern Land
5 points- What is the world's largest monolith, aka "single stone" called? Ayers Rock

Scoring thus far is as follows- (Out of a possible 150)
Abelman 98
Monica 80
Chad 80
Puffy 64
Greg 57
Katie 42
Cristen 41
Karen 33
Nate 23
Amy 19
Sara 3

On to this weeks quiz- This weeks quiz is all about movies...historical movies. And not just any historical movies, ones that I enjoy.

1 point- GLADIATOR- The "death matches" with the gladiators took place at what famous arena?
2 points- BRAVEHEART- What group of people were fighting for their freedom against the evil tyranny of England?
3 points- TOMBSTONE- What famous drunken gunslinger stood with the Earps at the gunfight at the O.K. Corral?
4 points- GODS AND GENERALS/GETTYSBURG- Which two actors played Robert E. Lee? One was supposed to have played him in both, but due to scheduling conflict could not.
5 points- NED KELLY-Who played the lead role of the Australian hero, and, AND, who played his sidekick!? Yeah! Eat that shit! HAHA!

Good luck!

Dance Dance Round Two-Limitations are a Bitch

Well, round two has begun and with it has come more frustration. The Apprentice may have truly become the Main Stage Act in round two. Unfortunately, (at least for Cody) a second foot problem has now slowed him down. He claims to be noticeably limping at this point, (which I don't see). Cody's main problem this week was lack of time to dance, having worked three nights at Walmart, taught three, and went with Lindsay to work one day, not to mention working during the day instead of at night, thus not allowing for my favorite time to dance...the afternoon. In fact, I only danced these songs once, so these are first time scores for me! The young Padawan is readying to make his move, as we made week three a catch up week. Any songs already played are fair game, new records here we go!

Random Update

Was just talking to FDM online and he told me about some big news for his show, Arcade the Musical.

If you haven't yet heard this piece of work, you should. Anyway, he got a letter from Mr. Ralph Baer, one of the early bigwigs in the Video Game Industry.

Matt is coming back to Marquette on Sunday, but here is a piece of the letter he shared with me...

"...but I have some big news involving arcade. Needless to say, Mr. Baer was VERY impressed with my recording, and we will having a phone meeting next week sometime. I'm a bit nervous, (but) I'm also pumped. He also talked about numerous venues where he has influence where he thinks the show might play well. I'll show you the letter when I get back. Suddenly, it's almost as if I might have done all this work for a reason! Here's a sample from the letter...

'This looks very promising and interesting. I can see perfoming/ showing this at
places like the Chicago Science Museum where the British GameOn exhibit is
currently in 6-months residence. ..or at venues like the Videotopia exhibit in
Singapore where it is right now. Further downstream I could probably find you a
Japanese translator and use my connections to the National Science Museum in
Tokyo to get the work performed there. Depending on how you handled the later
video game history involving Sony, Nintendo, MSFT etc., you could get support
from Sony or MSFT for this production.'"

Wow! I'm breaking the news to you all first. Way to go Matt, I hope something good comes from all this!

Dance Dance Round One-It begins...

A long time ago, in a galaxy called Wal-mart, something was mentioned about this thing called Dance Dance Revolution. A seemingly innocent start to something that was to become much bigger. Little did the wise Jedi know, that the other was soon to pick up on his craft. Dan was interested in this thing called Dance Dance, so he came over to try it. Cody was unaware that he had created a monster...a living, breathing, entity with one goal--to be the better dancer.

Dan started practicing day and night, while Cody sat unaware that in the depths of Marquette, there was a competitor growing, learning, observing, improving. Soon, he surfaced and told Cody of some of his magnificent accomplishments, some of which even Cody himself hadn't been able to do. One thing led to another and it began...

Songs were picked mostly by Dan in round one, and the competition started. They would dance every week, and focus on the SCORES, not the LETTER GRADE. It was to be a better indicator, since they grade differently based on how perfectly you do a song. At the end of one week, with sore foot on one side and a blown knee on the other, this is how it stands...

Wonderful Wo--just kidding...a real update in my life

Well, several people have been asking when I would do a real update, and today I figured I could spare the time, and also have Dave's computer, so here goes nothing. I'll try to make it worth your time to read.

1. Let me tell you why working sucks ass.

Okay, as most of you know, I'm working at the evil empire, Wal-Mart, also many of you I'm sure are also aware that I am subbing at several schools around the area as well. I can tell you this sucks. Sure its nice on days like today when I have some free time, but let me express to you how much this sucks.

A typical teaching day/Wal-Mart combo
6:45 get up
7:30-7:45 off to teach
8:15 arrive at school
3:15 done with school
4:00 arrive home
4:30 eat something
5:30 back to Wal-Mart
11:15 come home
1:00 unwinded and hopefully in bed

That totals a staggering 15 hours of work. Sure, I don't do this everyday, but let me tell you why it is going to suck possibly even more soon.

2. Going full time at Walmart is a necessary evil.

I'm not making enough money...that's that. I was saving a little, but that and more got wiped out, more on that later, and I'm heading towards broke. I decided I need to go full time for several reasons. Ahem,

-I always pick up an extra shift anyway, so that I only have Fridays off
-I would like to get some kind of insurance
-I need a full time job for summer anyways
-I have a read chance at getting this

Now, the bad news...hmm let's see here...oh yeah, I know!

3. In order to do this, I have to come up with more hours to work in a week.

Funny thing is, a week only has so many hours! Ha! Isn't that great! No, actually it SUCKS BALLS! In order to do that I had to push my times back on both ends of the day. Instead of starting at 5:30 at Wallyworld, I now would have to start at 4:30. Oh, and also end at midnight instead of 11:00. Great huh? Oh but wait there's more! Management tells me that only adds up to about 34 hours of availability (which is what they told me), but they need me in the 36 to 37 range. HA! So I start from scratch and realize one of two things has to happen, either I lose a teaching day of the week, or I work longer and sleep less. In the end, I chose the latter for professional development's sake. So my new proposed hours at Walmart that I handed in for consideration
Availability
Saturday- 10am-10pm (working 9 hours + 1 hour lunch) at least I'd get out at 10
Sunday-10am-11:30pm (working 10 hours + 1 hour lunch) fuck it
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday-4:30pm-12am eh.
Wednesday-4:30pm-11pm gotta have off for LOST
Friday-NOT AVAILABLE MOTHER FUCKERS! I GOTTA HAVE A LIFE SOMETIME!!!

So as you can see, combine that with teaching and I'll be fucking jet lagged and shitty curry all the time. (BASEketball reference)

Still I need the money because...

4. The Dentist can kiss my little (or big depending on your perception) white (really white due to winter) ass (butt).

Ok, so most of you probably heard I had to get a root canal. No problem. No insurance...a bit more of a problem. A dentist who cannot just let me get it done...A big problem. They just keep coming up with more and more shit I have to do. I'm sure they're not lying, but Jesus jumped up Christ, do they think i'm fucking rich? I'm fucking twenty-fucking-four years old.

here's a recap of the evil so far....

First visit-general consultation and prescription of drugs - 64.60 + 17.00=81.60
Second visit-filling the dead tooth and getting ready for a temporary crown= 812. 25
Third visit-putting the actual temporary crown on=238.45
Fourth visit (today)-doing 'gum testing' and taking x-rays of everything short of my penis=154.85
Fifth visit (proposed)-general cleaning=approx. 150
Sixth visit (proposed)-gum treatments=???
Seventh visit (proposed)-investigating another tooth with they claim probably will need another root canal=approx. 81.60
Eighth visit (proposed)-temporary crown on that tooth=approx. 800
Ninth visit (actually getting the fucking crowns, again proposed)=approx 800 per tooth

Let's see here quick math says it adds up to around 4200 dollars!*

*Last year I made just over 7000 dollars. Total.

Bottom line-today I told them they had wiped me clean and that I can't go on like this. They told me to hold up since that is the way they prefer me to do it. I say fuck it all, pull the son of a bitch. Sigh. This is my biggest stresser in my life right now.

5. Anyone got a car they wanna give me?

As most of you know my car is shit. I was hoping to get a loan this spring and get a newer one, but it seems most of my money is gone...hmm...how did that happen...oh yeah, see above. My car is a 92. Currently the muffler is broke, the dashboard is smashed (one of my happiest car memories, breaking something on purpose), my speedometer doesn't work, my odometer doesn't work, the gas gauge is a little off, and I'm sure other various problems as well. I wanted to get the muffler fixed right away, but I can't seem to find the money. Hmm...bizarre. We'll see what happens. I definitely expect nothing from my parents, as they, and my grandparents, have given me 500 dollars towards my fricking tooth.

6. A new job, a new job, a new job.

I need a teaching job. If nothing is as scary as graduation from college with no potential job, then the only thing as depressing is having a degree and no potential job.

I'm hoping and thinking I'll snag something by fall, but who knows. There was a job in Saginaw a few weeks ago...

Cody-"...why don't you have your homework?"
student-"I didn't feel like it."
Cody-"You gotta do your homework!"
student-"I ain't gotta do nothing you say."
Cody-"But i'm the teacher!"
BANG!
student-"Not anymore."

As you can imagine, not too thrilled about that.

7. Can I be in two places at once?

With the summer coming and Dave heading home, I'll be living alone. That means I'll be paying for rent (not Dave's half), elec, and gas, as well as my personal bills, phone, loans, gas, etc. But how long can I wait till I decide where to live for the fall. I can't do what I did this summer and get lucky to find both a roommate and a place to live in the last few weeks of summer. Dave has expressed interest in giving his friends Chris and Brandy my place in the townhouse and him staying for his last semester. Obviously I don't need the whole place to myself, but where do I live then? If I get a job, I live where the job is. If I don't (heaven help me), I'll be back doing exactly what I'm doing this year. Working two jobs and making ass for money.

However, if I got a job around here, my plan immediately switches to getting a one room place and possibly having Lindsay move in with me. We'd both be more happy that's for sure. She says she'd leave housing and her free room and board for the chance to live with me all the time. What a great gal. I hate that so much of her future depends on my uncertain ass. Sucks!

8. ( ), the Bad and the Ugly.

Something seems to be missing from all this rant...what could it be...hmm...let's see...

Oh yes! The GOOD! Surely there must be something I have in my life that is going well.

In actuality there are many. Mostly those that don't revolve around money. Lindsay and I have been nothing short of spectacular so far (1.3333333333 years as she says) and we are steadily moving along what it should be like to be boyfriend and girlfriend. Every time we do something together it always makes me feel special. It doesn't hurt that I work like a fucking dog, so anytime not working is good to begin with.

We've made Wednesday night, the coolest night since TST ;) in the old apartment. Who doesn't like getting together to watch LOST, easily the best new show in years, or at least since...X-Files! Yes, that's right, we get together every rerun Wednesday of LOST to watch X-Files together. What an excellent substitute.

My friend Dan and I have started a Dance Dance-Dance Off Competition, we'll see who the better dancer is! However, my pads suck ass, and usually prevent me from getting the scores I deserve.

Puffy will be thrilled to hear Bijou is alive and well. She doesn't get the attention she deserves, but mommy and daddy love you anyway baby! We also got a few cheapy fishes to add to my tank. They are read chubby and now the tank total has grown to 1o.

I enjoy doing the weekly quizzes for you all, and hope that we can continue with them.

In other news, I'm still looking for teams of three to play my game ASYLUM. One team has played so far, Dave-Lindsay-Monica, I'm still hoping to get some kind of teams out of FDM, Nate, Karen, Katie, Matt Fleming, Cory, whoever else.

Also, I'm developing a new game tenatively called "PIONEERS!", and am working on the game's play engine. It will be a card/board game, similar to Oregon Trail/Munchkin/Civilization.

Well that's it for now, my baby is bring me pizza then carting my ass to work to save a little money. (Every little bit helps eh?)

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Take care and never forget,

just 'cause I'm not talking to yah, doesn't mean I'm not thinking 'bout ya
