The Tale of Kentucky
The following account is one of excitement, thrills, care, woe, heartbreak, and the other emotions you feel when you are getting to meet someone new. It was during the summer that I meant a wonderful girl. Now for the purposes of this entry and all subsequent entries thereafter, I will refer to her as Kentucky. I don't see a real reason to use her real name, cause honestly by now, you have either heard of her or haven't and her real name won't matter for the sake of this tale. You see this girl was different, she caught my eye with certain sprakle in her own. We only talked twice while she was here, but we kept in touch over e-mail. Now where this story get's weird is that we have only spoken about an hour together face to face...until today. After E-mail we got each other's Instant Messenger names, and talked once in a while on that. Now at this point in my life I was still dating a wonderful, wonderful lady whom most people also know, and won't be mentioned by name. However, as things in life do, fate appeared to unravel the twisting vines around me, and soon I found my self single. It wasn't long after this, that Kentucky and I began talking more and more and eventually I began to like her. It was a weird sensation, since we had only 'spoken' twice to each other, but by mid August we were talking two hours or more online a day. I looked forward to seeing her and making her type 'awww' in the chat window. All was going well and she was getting excited about coming back to Northern this year, and I was getting excited to have her back also. At the fair right before school, I had actually won her a teddy bear. Taking a picture of the bear and sending it to her, she was excited to see it, and told me that Teddy Bears were her favorite. After she sent some pictures to me, I was amazed to see how gorgeous she looked. Anticipation was building...but then, as most things in my life seem to turn out...fate fucked me over. While looking at her web page there was a section about some guy she was falling in love with up here at school. Devastated is our volcabulary word of choice here. Oh well, I knew it was a longshot to begin with, but what the hell. After that we still talked, but it wasn't the same. Our promised hike to watch a sunset was fading into the could-have-been chapter of my life. She packed up and came back to school, and eventually she logged back on. I got the update from her that night that the guy she liked up here was a real asshole. I wasn't sure if she sent me this because of a sudden reinterest in me, or just as an outlet who cared. Either way she was right...I guess I did still care somewhat, if nothing else to have a weird friend. Oh well, she got my number and addy and I wondered when I would see this person I have talked to all summer long. Anyone that knows me (well or so I say), knows that I have no balls when it comes to talking to women. Well this is the case here as well. I realized that Kentucky was too different for me, and probably would never happen. I never rule anything out though, and life continues. Well one day I call her room and she is gone, but her roommate tells me she will call me back when she returns from class. Like clockwork the phone rang and I tensed up. I hadn't talked to her on the phone before...it was a good time. Although her voice wasn't exactly what I expected (that is a whole 'nother tale you can ask me about if you wish to hear it), it was sweet to talk to her in some other context than the computer. We made plans to go on a hike, and as luck would have it...the weather sucked. But it wasn't this that was to stop destiny again, it was another friend of hers asking if she would drive with him 5 hours so he wouldn't have to be alone. I understood and we hoped that someday we could hike finally. I stopped by her room one night, but she was gone. Since then we have chatted maybe once or twice. I don't understand some personalities sometimes, and hers is one of those types. She seems to find faults in everyday things, but doesn't want to change her life to fix those things. Oh well. I write this now, because as I sit here at the desk, looking at pointless web pages, she just walked up to me and said "hey cody".
It was crazy to finally see her after all this time. She looked as I remember and much to my delight her voice was music to my ears. She had just the right amount of make up, and she looked good. Kentucky has arrived. I don't know that we would ever get anywhere, or that she could even consider that possiblility due to me not being in her mind, but...one thing is for sure, life teaches you lessons that you always learn from. Fate works in mysterious ways, and teaches me that only a few people on this crazy sphere can match up with what I want out of a person...but one thing is for certain, treats from other states can be a good medicine for the eyes! ;) crazy chick, i'll be around, don't be a stranger.
